History of the book

This book was first published by Africa Window in 1994. It proved exceptionally popular, not only among visitors to Botswana, but also among professional guides operating within Botswana and surrounding countries, as well as young aspirant guides. It was then adopted by the Department of Wildlife of Botswana as the industry standard for setting examination papers and questions for guide’s in training. It was largely as a result of the number of new guides who sought out the authors to thank them for giving them the opportunity to launch a career in guiding professionally that this book has now been published in revised, updated and expanded format.
